Chicago Reopens in the West End

America Ferrera Smash hit musical Chicago reopened in London last night (November 7th 2011) at its new home of the Garrick Theatre. Ugly Betty star America Ferrera swapped her trademark glasses and braces for a gun and fishnet stockings as she made her West End debut as the murderous showgirl who can't resist the limelight, ‘Roxie Hart’.
Darius Campbell Former Pop Idol Darius Campbell (also known as Darius Danesh) has returned to the show as smooth talking attorney ‘Billy Flynn’ - a role he previously played in 2005 when he became the youngest actor, at the age of 25, to take the part. His other West End credits include Guys and Dolls and Gone With the Wind.

Additional cast members include Amra-Faye Wright as ‘Velma Kelly’, James Doherty as ‘Amos Hart’, Jasna Ivir as ‘Mama Morton’ and R. Whitehead as ‘Mary Sunshine’.

Chicago finished its record-breaking run at the Cambridge Theatre in August 2011 to make way for Matilda the Musical. It is now London’s longest running American musical (celebrating 14 successive years this month) and has arguably boasted more  household names than any other West End production in the last decade - including Denise Van Outen, Michelle Williams, Christie Brinkley, Jerry Springer, Marti Pellow and John Barrowman, to name but a few. With sultry Bob Fosse-inspired choreography, and unforgettable songs including ‘Cell Block Tango’ and ‘All That Jazz’, Chicago is the show that never fails to razzle-dazzle.

Chicago is now booking until Saturday 26th January 2013 at the Garrick Theatre.
