West End Theatre Breaks
We Will Rock You fans are being encouraged to celebrate the life of the late Freddie Mercury by dressing up as the great front-man to raise funds for the fight against HIV AIDS. The idea was dreamed up by Liz Swanton, a City worker and part-time editor of the Mercury Phoenix Trust website, after being inspired by the popular Queen musical’s 8th birthday celebrations last year. Freddie For A Day will take place on Friday Sept 3 - the closest weekday to Freddie Mercury’s birthday of Sept 5. |

Strut Your Stuff like FreddieTo take part in the event you can choose any outfit that Freddie wore whilst performing (with or without moustache), then ask friends, family or co-workers to sponsor you as you wear it for the day. If you’re not a dab hand with a sewing machine, costumes are available via the trust's website. |
Freddie Trust Continues Global WorkThe Mercury Phoenix Trust was established as a charitable organisation after Freddie Mercury’s death 20 years ago. To date the trust has given over £10M to AIDS charities worldwide. By challenging people to live out a day dressed in one of Freddie’s unmistakeable stage costumes, the trust hope to add to that total and raise awareness of the ongoing global battle against the disease. |
| We Will Rock You, the musical by Queen and Ben Elton, is now in it’s 9th smash-hit year at the Dominion Theatre. |
