Set at the height of the Second World War in 1942, Flare Path tells the story of the love triangle between Teddy, a young bomber pilot who is celebrating a reunion with his actress wife Patricia, and Peter, the dashing film star with whom she is having an affair. The action takes place at a hotel on the edge of an airfield in Lincolnshire. When Teddy is called away on an urgent bombing mission over Germany, Patricia finds herself at the centre of a passionate conflict of love and loyalty as unpredictable as the war itself. Playwright Terence Rattigan was himself a gunner and wireless operator for RAF Coastal Command during the war, and wrote the play during his time of service. |
