Les Miserables cast change 22 June

On 22 June, Les Miserables will undergo a major cast change as a number of its principal performers leave the show.

Current understudy Rebecca Seale (below left) will take over the role of the tragic Fantine from Allyson Brown. Rebecca has previously been seen in Mamma Mia!, understudying and playing the role of Sophie Sheridan. She made her first appearance in Les Miserables eight years ago, playing Eponine. She returned to the show last year and has played numerous ensemble roles as well as understudying the role of Fantine.

Two reality TV faces will also be joining the cast. I’d Do Anything hopeful Katie Hall (above centre) will take over the role of Fantine’s daughter Cosette from Leanne Dobinson. Katie can currently be seen in The Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty’s Theatre. Alastair Brammer will replace Jon Robyns as the heroic Marius. Alastair (above right) narrowly missed out on reaching the live shows when he took part in Any Dream Will Do in 2007. However, his performances won him a role in Bill Kenwright’s touring production of Joseph, and he regularly played the title role.

Jimmy Johnston and Jackie Marks are also leaving the show, although their replacements as the wicked Thenardiers have not been confirmed. Martin Ball, who has appeared in Mamma Mia! and Wicked, is rumoured to be taken over the role of the crooked landlord Mr Thenardier. Perhaps less credibly, it has been mentioned that Britain’s Got Talent’s Susan Boyle will play Madame Thenardier for a limited run. It seems unlikely, but she’s certainly got the looks for it.

Les Miserables is currently booking until February 2010 and you can book your break here.
