| The much anticipated sequel to The Phantom of the Opera, Love Never Dies, moves a step nearer to opening with an announcement due in early October. A press conference is scheduled for 8th October where music from the show will be given its first onstage performance, alongside an introduction to the cast and an address from Andrew Lloyd Webber. | |
Casting Rumours The musical has been two years in production. The first act of was previewed at the Sydmonton festival, the country estate of Lloyd Webber, in the summer of 2008. Casting rumours have abounded. As revealed by West End Theatre Breaks in July, Ramin Karimloo will play the Phantom and Sierra Boggess takes the role of his musical protégée Christine. The role of Meg will be taken by former Sound of Music star Summer Strallen. | |
The Phantom of Manhattan Based on the Frederick Forsyth novel The Phantom of Manhattan, Love Never Dies picks up the story of the mysterious Phantom ten years after his flight from the Paris Opera House. Coney Island, New York is the setting. Among its many amusements and sideshows resides a shadowy figure who lures Christine across the ocean to sing. | |

Over 9,000 PerformancesThe Phantom of the Opera opened in the West End in 1986 and was turned into a film in 2004 directed by Joel Schumacher and producer by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
