The Feel-Good Hit of the summer!

The action of Carlo Goldoni’s 18th century Venetian comedy ‘The Servant of Two Masters’ is relocated to 1960s Brighton in this hilarious new adaptation by Richard Bean. James Corden plays Francis Henshall, a minder to East End enforcer Roscoe Crabbe who has come to the seaside town to collect a debt from his fiancée’s father. However, Roscoe is really his sister Rachel posing as her own dead brother. Roscoe has been murdered by Rachel’s boyfriend, a toff named Stanley Stubbers, who has gone into hiding from the police. Holed up at the Cricketers’ Arms, Francis can’t resist taking a second job with Stanley. The only catch is that to prevent discovery he must keep his two gangland guvnors apart.

Opening in the West End this November

One Man, Two Guvnors opens at the Adelphi Theatre on Monday 21st November 2011 (following previews from Tuesday 8th November). The production will be booking until Saturday 25th February 2012. Richard Bean’s other plays include England People Very Nice, The Heretic, Harvest, Honeymoon Suite, Toast, The Big Fellah and Under the Whaleback.
