West End Theatre Breaks
Despite announcing its March 28 closing date last year, Avenue Q's producer Cameron Macintosh has decided that the hit adult show will now continue its run at Shaftesbury Avenue’s Gielgud Theatre. Talking about the decision to carry on the hit puppet musical, producer Cameron Macintosh said that since Avenue Q’s closure was announced, “business has surged to such an extent that I’m delighted to announce that Avenue Q is going to continue its run on the Avenue – Shaftesbury that is – at the start of June.”
Avenue Q will leave the Noel Coward Theatre as scheduled on 28 March to make way for Tim Firth’s Calendar Girls. Performances will resume at the Gielgud on 1 June 2009, and it is yet to be announced whether or not Avenue Q’s current residents, including Daniel Boys and Julie Atherton, will also transfer. Theatre breaks for Avenue Q’s new season at the Gielgud Theatre will be on sale shortly. Avenue Q is currently booking at the Noel Coward Theatre until 28 March 2009 and you can still book your break here.
