Coronation Street star Gary O’Brien will appear at the Arts Theatre this summer in the world premiere of Park Avenue Cat, a new play by the Anglo-American writer Frank Strausser. O’Brien is best known to soap fans for playing the role of Weatherfield businessman Tony Gordon (winning the coveted Villain of the Year at the 2009 British Soap Awards). He is joined in the production by Tessa Peake-Jones (who played the part of Del Boy’s long suffering wife Raquel in Only Fools and Horses), Josefina Gabrielle (Sweet Charity) and Daniel Weyman (Comedy of Errors). |

Park Avenue Cat tells what happens when something crucial is held back. Coming Soon on Stage and ScreenPark Avenue Cat is directed by Glen Walford, whose most recent West End production was Shirley Valentine with Meera Syall at the Trafalgar Studios. Playwright Frank Strausser makes his London debut with the show. His first produced play The Powder Room starred Academy Award Best Actress nominee Sally Kirkland. His second play The Split premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2002 and is currently in development with Tony-nominated director Wilson Milam. A film adaptation of his novel Plastic is in development with Australian director Kate Woods. Park Avenue Cat is also being adapted for film. |
