The Railway Children Now Booking till January 2012

The Railway Children The York Theatre Royal production of The Railway Children, which is currently playing at the Waterloo Station Theatre, has extended its London run to Sunday 8th January 2012. The show is enjoying its second season at the former Eurostar site after first steaming into the venue in 2010. The one-time international travel terminal has been converted into a fantastic theatre space with the audience seated either side of the original track.

Featuring a Real Steam Engine! 

Adapted for stage by Mike Kenny, The Railway Children tells the story of three siblings who move with their mother to the Yorkshire countryside after their father, who works for the Foreign Office, is taken away in mysterious circumstances. The children: Bobby, Peter and Phyllis, find distraction in watching the trains on the nearby railway line. They also become close friends with Perks, the station porter, and an Old Gentleman who they see regularly on the 9.15am train.

The Railway Children features a spectacular 66 tonne steam locomotive, Stirling Silver, and the Old Gentleman’s Saloon carriage from the original film. Comedian Marcus Brigstock is currently starring as station porter “Perks”.
