Whoopi Goldberg Leaves Sister Act

Whoopi Goldberg has left the musical Sister Act after receiving the news that her mother had suffered a severe stroke. The star flew home today, Friday 27 August, to join her family at this difficult time.

With immediate effect, the role of Mother Superior will be played by Ms Goldberg’s understudy until Thursday 2 September, when Sally Dexter will take over the role.

Sister Act Statement

A statement from the show’s Producers explained the news, adding that Ms Goldberg is very sorry not to be able to perform as planned and the thoughts and sincere best wishes of the Producers and the entire Sister Act Company are with her at this difficult time.

Sister Act will continue its successful run at The London Palladium until Saturday 30th October 2010.

Options for ticket holders

•    Any customers who booked for the performance prior to Wednesday 7 July 2010 will not be entitled to any form of refund or compensation.
•    Customers who booked after Wednesday 7 July 2010 are able to still go and see the show at a discounted rate of 50% off the price they paid for the ticket.
•    Customers who choose not to take up the 50% offer are entitled to a refund.
•    Customers who choose to go and see the show regardless of Whoopi’s non appearance, in seeing the show they will not be entitled to any refund in the future.
