West End Theatre Breaks
| This week saw Wicked’s 2 millionth customer passing through the doors of the Apollo Victoria, just in time to see the show’s new cast take to the stage. 24 year old Louisa Robb from Newark was given the best seats in the house and VIP treatment all evening, even being taken backstage after the show to meet Wicked’s stars. 2 million customers marks another of what looks to be a long line of landmarks for Wicked. At the end of last year, the show broke West End records with the highest weekly ticket sales of any show in London theatre history. With Wicked’s popularity ever increasing, the show has every cahnace of beating its own record and taking in even more millions of eager theatre goers in the future. The show’s incredible milestone coincided with the first performance of a brand new cast, featuring a number of new ensemble members (former Wicked ensemble Liam Tamne will be joining the cast of Hairspray as Link in July), Natalie Anderson as Nessarose, Sam Kelly as the Wizard and, by popular demand, the return of Alexia Khadime as Elphaba (left). |
| Wicked’s strong new cast gave a roof raising performance on Monday, and after nearly three years in the West End, it was certainly only a taster of what’s still to come from London’s top show. Wicked is now booking until April 2010, so click here for fantastic hotel packages. | |
