About For Black Boys...

Following performances at New Diorama Theatre and the Royal Court, the groundbreaking drama For Black Boys plays a West End season. Book For Black Boys Who Have Considered Suicide When the Hue Gets Too Heavy tickets on London Theatre.

When six young Black men meet for group therapy sessions, they collectively become each other's safe space. Away from a judgmental society, the sextet comfortably talk and reflect on their father figures, as well as fashion, sex, and food. Follow Onyx, Pitch, Jet, Sable, Obsidian, and Midnight as they explore what it means to be Black in 21st-century Britain.

Cameron devised the For Black Boys play in honour of Trayvon Martin’s unlawful death in 2013. It’s inspired by Ntozake Shange’s For Colored Girls, instead focusing on Black British men rather than African American women.

The For Black Boys London play serves as a powerful reminder that not everyone has a shared experience; each person has a different story that’s worth telling.

For Black Boys Olivier Awards

For Black Boys was nominated for two Oliviers in 2023: Best New Play and Best Actor in a Supporting Role (for Mark Akintimehin, Emmanuel Akwafo, Nnabiko Ejimofor, Darragh Hand, Aruna Jalloh, Kaine Lawrence).
