West End Theatre Breaks
Based on the hit film. It tells the story of one boy's dream to become a ballet dancer from a working class community, set against the backdrop of the miners dispute in the 80's. It is a very funny, heartwarming tale with fantastic music from Elton John and some brilliant dance sequences. Strictly age 8 years +.
This is the stage version of the film which was released in 2000 and nominated for 3 Oscars, 3 Golden Globes and 13 Bafta awards. With a score by Elton John, lyrics by Lee Hall and choreography by Peter Darling, Billy Elliot the Musical has mirrored the film's success, with an armful of Awards including four Oliviers.
Billy Elliot tells the story of the son of a striking Durham coal miner with an incongruous passion for ballet. While the show’s themes are family-friendly, there is strong language and a certain amount of stage violence so the recommended age limit is twelve years old.
