West End Theatre Breaks
Hollywood legend James Earl Jones returns to the West End in this acclaimed Broadway revival of Driving Miss Daisy. Jones plays Hoke Coleburn, a black chauffeur who is hired to drive an elderly Jewish woman, Miss Daisy, after she suffers yet anotherautomobile mishap. Miss Daisy is proud of her independence and has plenty of misgivings about being driven by someone else, not least an African American man. Gradually, however, she starts to accept Hokes help and their uneasy relationship becomes a lasting friendship. Vanessa Redgrave stars as Miss Daisy and Boyd Gaines (Gypsy, Pygmalion and Journeys End) plays her well-meaning son Boolie.

Jones plays Hoke Coleburn, an African American chauffeur who is hired by Boolie Werthan to drive his mother, Miss Daisy, after she suffers yet another automobile mishap. The conservative Miss Daisy has plenty of misgivings but out of necessity she starts to accept Hoke’s help. What begins as a troubled pairing soon blossoms into a life-changing relationship that transcends the social boundaries of mid twentieth century Atlanta. Vanessa Redgrave stars as Miss Daisy. Boyd Gaines (Gypsy, Pygmalion and Journey’s End) plays Boolie Werthan.
