West End Theatre Breaks
Kim Cattrall and Matthew Macfadyen are to star in a new Richard Eyre-directed production of No l Coward s Private Lives at London s Vaudeville theatre next spring.
The comedy of manners, which will run for two weeks at the Theatre Royal Bath beforetransferring to the West End, will play at the Vaudeville theatre from 24 February to 1 May (press night 3 March).
Coward s comedy finds Cattrall and Macfadyen playing former spouses who have been divorced from each other for five years. When fate finds them both honeymooning in the South of France in adjoining hotel rooms, their insatiable emotions are rekindled and they dive headlong into love and lust without a care for scandal, new partners or memories of why their marriage failed in the first place.
‘Private Lives’, Noel Coward’s comedy of manners, comes to the Vaudeville Theatre in the spring, starring ‘Sex and the City’s’ Kim Cattrall opposite Matthew Macfadyen.
Cattrall and Macfadyen play the divorced couple (Amanda and Elyot) honeymooning with their new spouses in the south of France. All is well until fate finds them staying in the same hotel. Although separated for five years their insatiable feelings for each other are immediately rekindled, along with the jealousy and arguments that first drove their relationship apart.
Kim Cattrall is famous for playing man-eater Samantha Jones in the hit US series ‘Sex and the City’. Her London stage credits include ‘Whose Life is it Anyway’ and ‘The Cryptogram’ at the Donmar Warehouse.
Matthew MacFadyen is well known for his role as intelligence officer Tom Quinn in the BBC television series ‘Spooks’. National Theatre credits include Shakespeare’s Henry IV parts 1 & 2. He also played Mr Darcy in the 2005 film ‘Pride and Prejudice’ opposite Keira Knightley.
