Harold Pinter’s ‘The Caretaker’

Hollywood star Jonathan Pryce takes on the role of tramp ‘Davies’ in the new production of Harold Pinter’s ‘The Caretaker’ at the Trafalgar Studios. Fifty years after its first performance the tragicomedy remains as dramatic and enthralling as ever.

Vagrant Davies (Jonathan Pryce) is invited into the home of two brothers Aston and Mick. He may be down on his luck but still has pretence that some papers left in Sidcup will let him start afresh. Meanwhile, Aston dreams of fixing up their dilapidated property, but his hopes are tied up with ill-tempered brother Mick, who has lofty aspirations of his own.

The production opened at the Liverpool Everyman Theatre in October 2009 and transfers to the West End with a fine cast and glowing reviews. Two-time Tony Award winner Jonathan Pryce is joined by Peter McDonald as Aston.
