This is the musical version of Willie Russell’s tragedy about a pair of identical twins whose mother can only afford to raise one child. She gives the other to a wealthy woman to bring up as her own. The play asks whether genetics or environment plays the primary role in the shaping of an individual’s character. When the two boys meet in later life, neither sees himself in the other and catastrophe results.
