Hairspray - London

Multi award winning musical comedy Hairspray has smashed box office records at the Shaftesbury Theatre. Follow Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart as she sets out to dance her way onto TV's most popular dance show. Canthis ordinary girl realise her extraordinary dreams, inspire her mum and still have time to win the boy she loves? Stage legend Michael Ball won the Olivier for Best Actor in a Musical as Tracy's mother Edna.Hairspray welcomes Brian Conley as larger-than-life Edna Turnblad from 27 July! Brian is joined by Chl e Hart taking over as big-haired, big-hearted Tracy Turnblad in her West End debut, and Wicked s Liam Tamne as heartthrob Link Larkin. Brian Conley is one of the UK s biggest entertainmentstars with credits spanning musicals, television, film, comedy and variety, including lead roles in hit musicals Me & My Girl, Jolson and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Don't miss this exciting new line up for London's happiest, funniest, sunniest show!

It is 1962 and big hearts, big dreams and big hair are in, but Tracy Turnblad is just a small time girl in the quiet town of Baltimore. Tracy has one passion in life and that is to dance. All her dreams come true as she wins a spot on the local TV dance programme, ‘The Corny Collins Show’, and overnight is transformed from outsider to irrepressible teen celebrity. But can Tracy upstage the programme's current princess and win the love of heart throb Link Larkin without denting her 'do’? Hairspray promises to be an outstanding show with cheeky comedy, crazy dance routines and some big hair do’s!

Hairspray stars Michael Ball*, Nigel Planer and Verity Rushworth.

*Michael Ball is scheduled to appear until 25 July 2009 and does not appear on Monday evenings. At these performances, the role of Edna is played by Adam Price.

From Monday 27 July, the role of Edna will be played by comedian, actor and singer Brian Conley, and the roles ofTRacy and Link will be taken over by newcomer Chloe Hart and Wicked's Liam Tamne.
