Mamma Mia! turns 10

	The sensational Abba musical Mamma Mia! celebrated its tenth birthday this week with an extra special performance attended by the men behind the music, Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson. After a fantastic show, Bjorn and Benny, along with producer Judy Craymer and writer Catherine Johnson, joined the cast on stage. "Ten bloody years!" and emotional Craymer explained.
Mamma Mia! is credited with creating the popularity of the jukebox musical, being the genre's first major success. And what a success it has been. Only two years after it opened at the Prince Edward Theatre (it moved to the Prince of Wales in 2004), there were five productions running simultaneously worldwide. Since then, 19 separate productions have played to an astounding 30 million people worldwide, earning an estimated £2 billion in ticket sales.
Just when we thought Mamma Mia's success could get no bigger, it branched out from the stage and onto the screen. Released in the UK last summer, Mamma Mia! the Movie has already become the highest grossingfilm in UK history and the DVD release is the UK's fasest selling. Despite not even having been out a year, and still awaiting release in many countries, it is already the 42nd highest grossing movie of all time.
Mamma Mia! is of course driven by over twenty Abba classics, and was given the full support of Abba members Agnetha Faltskog, Anni-Frid Lyngstad and, of course, Bjorn and Benny who were actively involved with the project from the start.
Ten years on, everyone involved with Mamma Mia! has a huge amount celebrate as they hit a rare milestone. Mamma Mia! remains, even after ten years, one ofthe world's most enduring shows, and easily has another ten years ahead of it.
