The Phantom Of The Opera

A truly romantic, memorable Musical and so spectacular that it is still a hugely popular show after 22 years. Andrew Lloyd Webber's hit musical tells the tale of unrequited love set both on and beneath the stage of the gloriously gothic Paris OperaHouse.Under 6's will not be admitted. Please note that until 30 October 2011 midweek matinee is on a Tuesday at 2.30pm from 31 October 2011 midweek matinee will be on a Thursday at 2.30pm.

There’s a very odd man living deep within the bowels of the Paris Opera House.  He wants his protégé, Christine, to star in the company’s next production and, as everyone discovers, it is an extremely bad idea to obstruct his desires. This dramatization of Gaston Leroux’s 1911 novel, Le Fantôme de l’Opéra, captures the darkness and occultism he ascribes to turn-of -the-century Paris. We are nearly certain that there are no demented beings lurking in the shadows of Her Majesty’s Theatre!

Casting Announced for Phantom of the Opera Tour

Casting has been announced for the touring production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera, which will launch at the Theatre Royal Plymouth in February 2012. John Owen-Jones, who is currently playing the masked musical genius at Her Majesty’s Theatre, will alternate the role of ‘The Phantom’ with fellow West End star Earl Carpenter, who is currently playing ‘Javert’ in Les Misérables at the Queens Theatre. Katie Hall, a former contestant on the televised BBC talent search I’d Do Anything, will play the alluring Swedish soprano ‘Christine Daae’.

Three Degrees of Separation
John Owen-Jones John Owen-Jones became the youngest person ever to play the role of ‘Jean Valjean’ in Les Misérables when he took over in the West End production at the age of 26 in 1998. He became London’s longest running ‘Phantom’ in 2005 after completing three years and nearly 1,400 performances during his first spell in the role.
Earl Carpenter Earl Carpenter played ‘The Phantom’ at Her Majesty’s Theatre in 2008. His other West End credits include We Will Rock You, The Witches of Eastwick and Les Misérables. He played ‘Javert’ in Cameron Mackintosh’s 2010 anniversary tour that concluded at the Barbican Centre (Les Misérables’ original home) as part of the show’s 25th birthday celebrations.
Katie Hall Katie Hall rose to fame after appearing as a teenage contestant on ‘I'd Do Anything’ (Andrew Lloyd Webber's search for a ‘Nancy’ for his West End production of Oliver!) She was then cast to cover the role of ‘Christine’ at Her Majesty’s Theatre. Her other stage credits include ‘Cosette’ in Les Misérables at the Queens Theatre and on the 25th anniversary tour.

All New Designs and Staging

The Phantom of the Opera has won over 60 major theatre awards, including seven Tony Awards on Broadway and three Olivier Awards in the West End. The New York show is now the longest running musical in Broadway history, whilst the London original has surpassed 10,000 performances. This new touring production, directed by Laurence Connor (The King and I), promises exciting new designs and staging, whilst retaining the classic love story that has enthralled theatre audiences for over 25 years.
