Wicked

Based on the acclaimed novel by Gregory Maguire that re-imagined the stories and characters created by L. Frank Baum in 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz', WICKED tells the incredible untold story of an unlikely but profound friendship between two girls who first meet as sorcery students. Their extraordinary adventures in Oz ultimately see them fulfil their destinies as Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Amazing vocal performances, songs that remain with you for days and mind blowing sets are just three of the high points of this extravaganza of a musical.  This is the story of ‘what really happened in Oz’, and it cleverly wraps the familiar tale in intrigue and adds to it twists and turns that leave you wondering.  Ultimately it is a touching, poignant tale about friendship between two almost incompatible young women set against the backdrop of fantasy and familiarity.  It’s a must-see musical that has been dazzling audiences from the moment it opened in the West End.

Wicked recently welcomed back the sensational Kerry Ellis as Elphaba, who this summer took her broomstick and hideodious hat to wow Wicked audiences on Broadway.

"A wicked and wonderful vision of Oz. A remarkable kaleidoscope of magical shocks, surprises and sensations - Wicked the Musical works like a dream." The London Evening Standard

"Inventive and suspenseful" The Financial Times

Goodbye Kerry Ellis!

Kerry Ellis seems to be back on the mend and hopes to be flying high for her last performance in Wicked this Saturday.

Kerry leaves the show for good on Saturday 9 May, but her final week has unfortunately coincided with a nasty bout of the flu (not of the swine variety, thankfully). Her failure to appear this week has disappointed many fans, yet there worries were soon assuaged by the fantastic performances given by Kerry’s excellent standby Ashleigh Gray. Kerry felt well enough to take to the Western sky for today’s matinee, so things are looking hopeful for her thousands of diehard fans wanting to see her one last time.
Kerry has played the role of Elphaba since the London production opened in September 2006. Initially the standby for original Elphaba Idina Menzel, Kerry took on the role full time in December that year. After over two years in the role, Kerry has definitely made it her own, her growly voice and angry interpretation making her a firm fan favourite. Her popularity went international last year when she spent six months at New York’s George Gershwin Theatre playing Elphaba in the Broadway production of Wicked. Her place was taken in London by Alexia Khadime who, in her short time as London’s Elphie, developed a strong following of her own. Alexia returns to Wicked on Monday 11 May as Kerry’s permanent replacement.

Wicked is currently booking until April 2010 and you can book your break here.
